Description

It’s already been a historic year for Topps when it comes to baseball products, but the anniversaries keep rolling as 2026 Topps Chrome Baseball kicks off a celebration of the line’s 30th anniversary.

Once again serving as a condensed version of the Topps flagship set by giving select cards from Series 1 and Series 2 a chromium finish, this year’s product will continue several Chrome traditions, as well as introduce some new favorites.

Collectors can expect one autograph per hobby box, while jumbo boxes house a pair of signatures.

2026 Topps Chrome Baseball Checklist Overview

Topps Chrome returns with a 300-card checklist that will include plenty of rookie cards, including players like Konnor Griffin, Kevin McGonigle, and JJ Wetherholt who didn’t have traditional rookie cards in the flagship set. Otherwise, base cards feature the same images as the traditional Topps flagship cards, minus the 75th anniversary logo.

Dozens of Refractors cover the base set, including many numbered options with colored borders and certain types of Refractors that are found only in certain styles of boxes.

Image Variations also make their return. These short-printed cards give collectors a different look at select players.

Select players have SSP versions.

2026 Topps Chrome Baseball Autographs

Rookie Autographs are back as the pillars of the autograph checklist. Using the base design, all cards will have a variety of parallels, including coveted 1/1 Superfractors.

Six of the best current stars and dozens of Legends also take the same approach with hard-signed cards on the base design.

Champion Autographs are reserved for players who hoisted the Commissioners Trophy during their career.

Future Stars Autographs, an annual staple since 2018, also make their return with another eye-popping and colorful design.

World Series Champion Autographs again feature members of the Los Angeles Dodgers, who in 2025 became the first back-to-back champions in baseball since the 1999 and 2000 New York Yankees.

Collectors can also find signed versions of the 1991 Topps Baseball retro inserts.

2026 Topps Chrome Baseball Gold Logoman Patches

Perhaps the most anticipated aspect of 2025 Topps Chrome Baseball was the debut of Gold Logoman patch cards.

Following the success of MLB Rookie Debut patches, Fanatics and Major League Baseball collaborated before the 2025 season to create gold MLB Logoman patches to put on the jerseys of prominent award winners from the 2024 season.

Some of those Gold Logoman patches were later authenticated by MLB as game-used and then sent to Topps for use in extremely limited cards. Redemption cards for the Gold Logoman Relics and Autographed Gold Logoman Relics will again be released as the ultimate chase cards in 2026 Topps Chrome Baseball.

Players in the set are:

  • Shohei Ohtani, National League MVP
  • Aaron Judge, American League MVP
  • Drake Baldwin, National League Rookie of the Year
  • Nick Kurtz, American League Rookie of the Year
  • Paul Skenes, National League Cy Young Award
  • Tarik Skubal, American League Cy Young Award

An even bigger piece of the Gold Logoman chase, however, are the Dual Autographed Gold Logoman Patch cards. These cards feature game-worn Gold Logoman patches and hard-signed autographs from both award winners in a certain category.

Production runs of these cards in 2025 were:

  • Gold Logoman Patches /4
  • Gold Logoman Patch Autographs /1
  • Dual Gold Logoman Patches /4
  • Dual Gold Logoman Autographs /1

2026 Topps Chrome Baseball Inserts Overview

Insert content has been a staple of Topps Chrome since its inception in 1996, and that remains the case three decades later.

Chasing a Multi-Year Rainbow

A new multi-year rainbow chase made its debut in 2025 Topps Chrome Baseball, and the next wave of those cards is set to hit packs in 2026.

Last year, collectors searched for Cooperstown Calls inserts that honored the 2025 inductees to the National Baseball Hall of Fame: Ichiro, C.C. Sabathia, Billy Wagner, Dick Allen, and Dave Parker.

The catch?

Only the /150 Blue Refractors were released into 2025 packs.

The rest of the parallel rainbow, according to Fanatics, would be released over the next six years.

  • 2026: Green Refractor /99
  • 2027: Gold Refractor /50
  • 2028: Orange Refractor /25
  • 2029: Black Refractor /10
  • 2030: Red Refractor /5
  • 2031: Superfractor 1/1

Topps indicated the multi-year Cooperstown Calls rainbow chase will continue in ensuing years, meaning that when 1/1 Superfractors for the 2025 class are inserted into packs in 2031, there will be seven different Hall of Fame classes represented within that product.

In the 2026 product, collectors will be able to find Blue Refractors of 2026 Hall of Fame inductees Jeff Kent, Andruw Jones, and Carlos Beltran, and Green Refractors of Ichiro, Sabathia, Wagner, Allen, and Parker.

In addition, there are autographed versions of the 2026 inductees.

Retro Designs

In recent years, collectors have come to appreciate that Topps has recreated several classic inserts from years past. That trend also continues in 2026.

One of the inserts included with the inaugural Topps Chrome release in 1996 was the Wrecking Crew set, and Topps has enhanced the original design 30 years later to deliver another striking set of baseball’s top power threats.

An insert from 25 years ago also gets a rebrand.

Past To Present inserts debuted in 2001 and paired a franchise legend with a current star. Topps takes the same approach but has developed a modern, shadowbox-like design.

Additional Inserts

As has been the case in Topps Series 1 and Series 2, a 35th anniversary tribute set will continue in Topps Chrome – this year features the 1991 Topps design.

Returning concepts include tough chases like Helix, Ultraviolet, and World Series At Night.

Fanatical, a popular retail SSP insert from the flagship set, also makes the jump to Chrome.

New to the product are Diamond Moments and Static Noise.

Topps is also introducing Chrome Rivals. These dueling 25-card sets match up with each other, with one checklist featuring a player in their home uniform and the other featuring a player in their away uniform. The numbers match up to produce a storied rivalry, such as Yankees vs. Red Sox.

Players in home uniforms can only be found in hobby or jumbo boxes, while players in away uniforms can only be found in value or mega boxes.

Another new and exciting addition to product are Topps Chrome Minions. These short-printed inserts re-imagine players as characters from the Minions film franchise.

2026 Topps Chrome MVP Buyback Program

Topps Chrome will be the home of the MVP Buyback Program for a fifth straight year. In years past, collectors owning base cards and parallels of the eventual American and National League MVPs had the option to exchange those cards for credit at participating hobby stores.

Collectors should also look out for Aaron Judge and Shohei Ohtani 2025 Topps Chrome MVP Buyback cards, including signed versions.
